EVDots join forces with ENGIE SEA & ComfortDelGro

ENGIE wins government tender to build a network of Electric Vehicle charge points all across Singapore.

EVDots is a startup that originated from ENGIE Factory’s venture build program with the objective to enter the EV charging and services business in Singapore and later other countries in Southeast Asia. The EV market in Singapore is nascent but has received a significant boost from the authorities as vehicle prices approach parity with petrol and diesel equivalent.

Since its inception 2 years ago, EVDots has now been successfully integrated with ENGIE South East Asia and will be joining the ComfortDelGro mobility team to lead and build a network of Electric Vehicle charge points all across Singapore. Leveraging their experience and capabilities from energy generation, infrastructure deployment and mobility to provide the entire EV ecosystem to Singaporeans.

In September 2021, the integrated mobility team (between EVDots, ComfortDelGro Engineering and ENGIE South East Asia), won the Singapore’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure pilot tender awarded by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and Land Transport Authority (LTA). The pilot will significantly increase the current number of EV charging points deployed islandwide and contribute towards the national target to deploy 40,000 charging points in public car parks by 2030, they said.

URA and LTA in their joint statement also stated that besides having competitive charging rates and a sustainable business model, the consortiums are committed to delivering a complete suite of services, which includes the installation, operation and maintenance of EV charging infrastructure, as well as trialling innovative solutions to optimise available electrical load and address usage issues such as lot hogging.

“The keen industry participation in this pilot tender demonstrates strong interest by the private sector to play a part in shaping Singapore’s EV landscape,” they added.

The charging stations are expected to be installed and operational by Q3 of 2022.
