Can AI truly disrupt the Solar O&M market and increase yield?
The Solar O&M market is facing saturation, with traditional O&M services companies offering solutions based on only scheduled maintenance activities with little focus on plant performance.
However, there is currently a paradigm shift underway as O&M contracts are getting shorter, more data- and outcome- focused. We’re seeing an opportunity for smart O&M capabilities – to introduce comprehensive data analytics and AI as a competitive and early advantage for ENGIE in the market.
ENGIE Factory APAC, together with ENGIE Factory LATAM and Laborelec, is collaborating with a startup called AVA Asia that uses a 360 approach to assess the health of a solar PV plant.
AVA Asia performs drone inspection of the entire plant as well as the individual equipment, combiner boxes and inverters with thermal and optical imaging. Then combined with SCADA data, AVA Asia leverages their speciality in their AI analytics capabilities to provide corrective recommendations to increase plant yield.
Currently we are validating AVA Asia’s solution in a 54MW plant in Los Loros, Chile, and if successful, the goal is to jointly create a new O&M service for utility-scale PV solar.
